Franang Zine: This band hasn't released that much full lengths so far, but each release are completely apart from the trend, and I'd say Funeral Winds is one of the few band that still represent what B.M was in the early 90's. "Koude Haat" is still in this straight vein, through 36 min, Funeral Winds delivers a B.M without compromise, without synth nor female vocals, this is nothing but guitar, drum, bass and vocals. All the tracks are fast tempo B.M with crude guitar gain, back ground whispering vocals and hammering drumming. The songs are wicked and insane, with this strong satanic image. Here and there I find some connections with early Immortal way of drumming such as in the intro of "The Wicked Are The Wise". The work on the vocals are really powerful as it seems the demons are coming from the underworld. As Funeral Winds states "Black Metal is Intolerant" and this CD sums it up perfectly.
Summon For Satan Zine: The cult is alive. Formed in 1991, after a long time of releasing nothing, then follow a re-release of the ungodly "Godslayer Xul" and now the next attack in form of "Koude Haat" from cult Horde Funeral Winds (Holland). It sounds really great, but a bit different to the older material. Let it me say so, the typical Funeral Winds style mixed with some more harsh and evil riffs, compositions and a a bit better production. But no shitty and clear gloomy sound, only more colder, not more so raw and directly. So, a bit more complex, I would say in comparsion to their older masterpieces. It starts with the great trax "When The Funeral Winds Cry For Revenge", brutal, dark, satanic and insane voKILLs (for those of you which dont know it, Hellchrist Xul deals with the vocalterror, not more Gorgoroth), great riffing, cruel drums, excellent bass... after this follow 9 apocaliptic trax. From these the best trax in my eyez are the sixth "The Wicked Are The Wise" and the seventh "Dawn of the Bestial Bloodshed", both songz have the best, fast riffs and the most hateful agressive and dark atmosphere. Cold is a good word, if you listen constantly to the muSICK your veins will be freeze and you became full of hatred. An evil aura possesses this album and it's fuking great that Funeral Winds are alive, hope that they will desecrate with some more albums in future. To come to an end, highly recommended from my site. Beside Kerberos and Bestial Summoning, the best band from the Netherlands in my eyezzzz and abolutly Cult. The layout is for instance total great, contains the lyrix a lot of band and cemetary pix, all in all in a strong b/w, grey coloured booklet. Nadasdy |
